Anti-Racism Strategy
Mildmay Primary School is firmly committed to anti-racism. We pledge to take actions that will address access and opportunity for all pupils, by highlighting inequalities and increasing awareness. Our goal is to create a learning environment where every pupil is respected and valued.
Mildmay Primary School does not tolerate any form of racism or discrimination on the grounds of skin colour, nationality, ethnic origin, religion or belief. This approach is in keeping with our commitment to ensuring a safe, kind, and positive environment for everyone.
This strategy document outlines our approach to preventing and addressing racism and discrimination within our school community and embedding anti-racist practices in our school systems. We will actively identify, challenge, and change attitudes that lead to negative discrimination against people based on their race, colour, nationality, culture, language, or religion.
Legal and Contextual Framework:
This strategy is guided by the protections offered by the Equality Act (2010). Race is recognised as a protected characteristic under this Act. It adheres to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
This Anti-Racism Strategy is part of promoting good behaviour in school and links to the school’s Behaviour Policy, Child Protection Policy, and Anti-Bullying Policy.
All pupils at Mildmay Primary School have the right to be treated with respect and to receive their education in an environment which is free from humiliation, oppression or abuse on racial grounds.
MPS Anti-Racism Strategy (Feb 2026)
We’re conscious that this strategy document will need refinement, amendment and development over time. We will continue to work with ‘Show Racism the Red Card’, the Essex Local Authority Anti-Racism lead and other professionals to ensure that our strategy and practice are aligned and effective.
