At Mildmay Primary School we offer:

 

  • Class-based, adaptive teaching which is accessible to all and ensures deaf children access their learning alongside their peers.
  • High-quality teaching for all which focuses on language with a school-wide emphasis on teaching vocabulary and modelling of langauge. 
  • Willing responsibility for the deaf child’s education by all staff, including aspects of SEMH.
  • Deaf representation in the curriculum - all children want to see themselves and those they identify with

 

In-class support centres on communication and language and is underpinned by our shared protocol to ensure a consistency of approach to:

 

  • Total Communication access to learning
  • Reinforcing new language
  • Supporting learning where needed
  • Fostering independent learning behaviours and self-advocacy skills
