- Class-based, adaptive teaching which is accessible to all and ensures deaf children access their learning alongside their peers.
- High-quality teaching for all which focuses on language with a school-wide emphasis on teaching vocabulary and modelling of langauge.
- Willing responsibility for the deaf child’s education by all staff, including aspects of SEMH.
- Deaf representation in the curriculum - all children want to see themselves and those they identify with
In-class support centres on communication and language and is underpinned by our shared protocol to ensure a consistency of approach to:
- Total Communication access to learning
- Reinforcing new language
- Supporting learning where needed
- Fostering independent learning behaviours and self-advocacy skills
