Mildmay Primary School

with a Resource Base for Deaf Children

“Growing, Caring and Learning Together”

Life Skills for Personal Development

At Mildmay Primary school we recognise the need to build understanding and knowledge of issues impacting on a child’s life and we seek to incorporate many important ‘life skills’ messages in our learning beyond the standard curriculum.

These include:

  • Self-Regulation and Wellbeing

  • Votes for Schools – a weekly discussion lesson highlighting key issues of current affairs, personal development and safety, health and well-being.

  • Bikeability in EYFS and Year 6

  • Transition visits for Year 6 in preparation for secondary school

  • Fire Safety talks (particularly around the time of bonfire night).

  • Road safety awareness

  • E-safety and safer internet practice

And a plethora of assemblies (focusing on a wide variety of cultural and personal development themes) for the whole school.
