Mildmay Primary School

with a Resource Base for Deaf Children

“Growing, Caring and Learning Together”

Young Carers

Mildmay Primary School  is committed to developing our provision for young carers and their families.

The whole school is committed to meeting the needs of all young carers so that they can attend and enjoy school in the same way as other children and achieve their full potential.

Young Carers’ Senior School Lead :

Miss  S Pooler - Deputy Headteacher

Young Carers’ School Operational Lead:

Mrs B Lecount  - Pastoral Support Officer

The school only shares information with professionals and agencies on a need to know basis in order to support pupils and their families.

Mildmay Primary School is setting up a group to seek feedback and ideas from young carers to improve support.

The school has an effective referral system and strong partnership in place with relevant external agencies, including referrals to Essex Young Carer agencies, liaising with key workers who will work with young carers and families.

We strive to achieve best practice for students and families in our school in order to provide them with the best chance of success in their future.

We were proud to be awarded the Bronze Young Carers in Schools Award in 2019 as recognition for our commitment to our Young Carers and their families.

If you feel your child may be a Young Carer, please do not hesitate to contact us at parents@mildmayprimary.org with a subject heading of Young Carers.
