We created these 'poem portraits'

Stage 1 - we sketched a self portrait using a photograph of ourselves.

Stage 2 - we practiced tracing over the lines with text from a poem 'I am me'.

Stage 3 - we created our background using a watercolour wash or collage.

Stage 4 - we used carbon copy paper to transfer the portrait shaped lines of the poem.

This was quite challenging, but we thought we created some really unique portraits.

Next we adapted our photographs in different ways. Some of us changed the backgrounds, some cut up and reordered the image and some removed parts which were then added back in using paint or mixed media. We had lots of fun!
