“Growing, Caring and Learning Together”

Annual Pumpkin Carving Competition

It’s that time of year when the supermarkets and farm shops are full of pumpkins just waiting for you and your children to get creative. We’re challenging any families that wish to get together, get creative and be part of our annual competition to submit an entry on the last day of this half term.

We have no issues with parents and older siblings lending a hand with the designs to allow the youngest members of our school to get involved (we’re thinking that sharp implements are best left to adults). We also know that not everyone agrees with the celebration of Halloween, so the challenge is completely open-ended with all themes or designs (spooky or non-spooky) welcome.

Entries should be brought to school on 25th October (last day of this half term) and be displayed for all to see on the front field area, next to the Year 1 & 2 playground. Please collect a Flag/Label from us when you present your competition entry. We will also be taking a voluntary £1 entry fee to support the purchase of Year 6 Leavers Hoodies for Summer 2025, although your child’s pumpkin will be included in the competition regardless of donation.

If, for any reason, you are unable to get your pumpkin to school, please take a photo and send it with your child’s name and class to competition@mildmayprimary.org no later than 6pm on Thursday 24th October.

Winners will be chosen and prizes given out during the celebration assembly that afternoon and pumpkins can then be taken away at the end of the same day so they can decorate your homes for Halloween during the half-term break.

Enjoy being creative together!
