Year Six
Periscopes
We made periscopes. Soldiers in the WW1 used them to see their enemies over the trenches. We used the knowledge from our science lessons on light to explain how they worked. We know that light travels in straight lines and that it reflects off objects and enters our eyes so we can see things. The mirrors reflect light so the image of the object is reflected off the mirrors so we can see it.
Circulation
We have been learning about the heart and how it pumps blood around our bodies. We researched information about all of the organs in our bodies and then drew around a person and added them in the correct places. We added information about the organs and learnt about veins and arteries.
This was done during children in need PJ day, which is why we are not in our uniforms!
Light Travels in Straight Lines
We carried out an investigation to prove that light travels in straight lines. We used a torch as a light sources and had to carefully line up the holes in the cardboard to ensure that the light reached the 'target'.
